Ham and Beans

**I dont typically like ham and beans, but this one has a little sweetness to it. yummy!
1 lb dry great Northern Beans
1/2 lb cooked ham--diced
1 small onion--diced
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 TBS dried parsley

Rinse beans, discard shriveled beans or stones. Add 8 c of cold water. Let stand 8 hours--or overnight. Drain and rinse beans. Combine all ingredients and water to cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2-2 hours. Add water throughout cooking if needed.
